Things To Do Squamish: Rainy Day Guide

Things to do in Squamish are seemingly endless. If the wet weather hits, don’t let the rain discourage you.

Last fall we brought you an article called The Top Ten Things To Do on a Rainy Day and you guys loved it. This year we have doubled our list of awesome things to do in Squamish when the fall rain is pouring down. So sit back with a hot cup of joe and get inspired for fun times on the soggy days.

Things To Do – Outside

Mountain Biking – Fall is one of the best times of year to get out on the trails. The right amount of rain can leave the trails tacky and fun. However, after heavy downpours, give the trails some time to dry out, being careful on the corners and slippery log features.

Hiking in the Woods – It is always dryer in our west coast forest due to the thick covering from the  evergreens. Hiking is my favourite way to spend a rainy day, warming up with a hot chocolate or the next point on this list:

Pumpkin Spice Lattes – It is crazy how a spiced pumpkin latte can capture fall so perfectly in a cup and accompany the soggy days so perfectly. If you haven’t tried one yet, you need to.

Eagle Hunting – This is the season when the Bald Eagles start to return to our Squamish for their winter Salmon Feast. Capture these stunning birds with your eyes or a camera. Book a eagle rafting trip with Squamish Rafting Company

Get the Gear & Get Outside – The guys at Valhalla Pure are the local experts in getting you geared up to get outside in the rainy weather. A little rain never got in the way of play for a Squamish adventurer.

GolfingSquamish Valley Golf Course is open year round for golf or football golf. If you want to practice those swing year round be sure to drop by on a light rainy day.

Rain Boots For Puddle Jumping – Drop by Fetish for shoes downtown for the latest selection of womens rain boots to get you jumping in those puddles and looking good while you do it.

Climb on up at Ground Up Have you ever been rock climbing? Whatever your skill level, climbing is an amazing sport that is sure to test your strength, patience and determination. Rainy Days spent at Ground Up are the best way to stay strong, escape the weather and have fun. Soak the days away at Brennan Park Rec Center The rec center has a little bit of everything and you’re sure to find a few great ways to pass the day. Are you feeling lazy and sore? Spend some time soaking in the hot tub. Are you keen to get active and work up a sweat? Why not pump some weights or go for a swim? Maybe you’re keen to shoot some hoops with your friends, or skate around the ice rink? Brennan Park really does have it all.

Go Underground at Britannia Mine Take a mini road trip and go underground with your family at the Britannia Mining Museum.This award winning destination, is the perfect place to combines family fun with history lessons and exploration. Hop aboard a real mine train and take a trip much like trips that real miners took 100 years ago when the site was the largest copper mine in British Commonwealth. .

Check out the Squamish Ale Trail Squamish has a long history in the Craft beer scene with hop farming being the first major industry in our town over 100 years ago. The craft beer scene is growing rapidly in British Columbia and the Sea to Sky region is at the centerpiece of that growth. Check out Howesound Inn, Backcountry Brewing and Aframe Brewing for an afternoon tasting the rainy days away .
