We recommend starting on a calm lake like Alice, Brohm or Cat. This is a great way to practice your skills & balance before trying one of the rivers
The Squamish river near the watershed offers a great location for your next Stand Up Paddle day. Please be aware the the rivers are glacier fed and very cold, and also that their are underwater logs that are very hazardous.
This offers a calm way to explore the waterways and enjoy the nature of the estuary. Please minimize your impact by not landing in the estuary and stay on your board while in this delicate ecological zone. This location is also ideal at high tide – tour departures will depend on the high tide and wind. The estuary is best enjoyed in the morning or in the evening, before the famouse squamish wind picks up for the kiteboarders
When the wind and waves are calm, the ocean can be a great place to explore on your Stand Up Paddle board. Explore down the coast line to Britannia Beach and enjoy a coffee at Galileo.
Stand Up Paddle is available year round in Squamish for the brave! The best months will be the hot summer & spring days where a dip in the ocean or glacier fed river is a welcome refreshment.
Please wear wet suits when on the rivers, they are colder than you think. watch out for logs, these will be your biggest threat for river Suping.
