Squamish has a long history in the Craft beer scene with hop farming being the first major industry in our town over 100 years ago. The craft beer scene is growing rapidly in British Columbia and the Sea to Sky region is at the centerpiece of that growth. We all know that a beer taste better post adventure so join us for a tour of the best places to apres with a craft beer  in Squamish BC.

Be sure to check out our map of great places to get a craft beer map below, while we guide you through the spots to grab a taste along your way.  Be sure to check back here often as their are new places coming soon!

Lets start the tour in downtown Squamish,  where local craft beer was first produced and served in Squamish:

1. Howe Sound Inn and Brewing – Producer

While the brewpub might be the OG in town for local craft beer, they are still producing fresh and fun award winning beer. Established in 1996, Howe Sound Brewing has long been a destination for craft beer fans.

They offer year-round brews, in addition to new and innovative seasonal selections. This creative process has earned the brewpub a growing list of gold medals from the North American Beer Awards, the Canadian Beer Awards and the BC Beer Awards. This is the place to start on your taste of Squamish craft beer & distillery tour.

2. The Copper Coil Still & Grill – Craft On Tap

The Copper Coil Still & Grill brings together the character of New Orleans with the beauty and bounty of the Pacific Northwest. While they are not brewing beers, they are home to one of the largest selections of craft beer from the sea to sky available on their rotating tap.  Be sure to stop in for a taste of craft beer from the Sea to Sky on your craft beverage trip.

3. Gillespie’s Fine Spirits – Producer

Although not technically craft beer, this local distillery is creating awesome local booze. At Gillespie’s their mantra is LOCAL AWESOME BOOZE! They handcraft our artisan spirits and cocktail accompaniments from BC grown grains and fruit. Everything is small batch and handmade. Drop by their lounge for a delicious martini or handmade cocktail.

4. A-Frame Brewing Co – Producer

A-Frame Brewing Company brings you to the cabin in their cozy, family friendly, casual tasting room & craft brewery. Their story began on Okanagan Lake at Jeff’s cabin: his family built “A” Frame. As the birthplace of celebrated family memories and a rendezvous to tell our cherished stories, at A-Frame they aspire to re-create that authentic experience in all aspects of their craft. Just as every nail was purposely driven with passion and respect, every glass at A-Frame is poured with the same care. Be sure to stop by A-Frame brewing to to cultivate new memories in their, ‘lakeside-meets-the-mountains’ tasting room in our beautiful community of Squamish, BC.

5. Backcountry Brewing – Producer

The new kid on the beer block is Backcountry Brewing. They officially opened April 1st to a welcoming community of local beer lovers. Join them in their tasting lounge for beer and pizza, or fill your growler to take with you on your adventures. They have opened with  six beers, including an East Coast IPA, American Pale Ale, and a dry German-style Pilsner, with my personal favourite being the widowmaker IPA. Stay tuned for more great local events and happenings coming from this team.
