The dream of a surfable wave in Squamish is coming true! A new adventure company is coming to our shores to offer wake boarding tours. Allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the Howe Sound with a top of the line wake board boat is the perfect addition to the list of activities that make Squamish the outdoor recreation capital of Canada.
Jim, the owner, moved to Squamish after visiting every year to enjoy our back country snowmobiling and other mountain adventures. Like many others, he came for the winters and stayed because of the summer.
His company will offer boating on the Howe Sound with water-skiing, wake-boarding and my personal favorite: wake surfing! The boat is a top of the line Malibu VLX 21ft boat, weighted down to allow for a clean, consistent left or right wave to ride as long as your legs will last.
Dominic, a recent guest on the boat tours, said “This boat trip is awesome; you get a full day boat cruise combined with a wave that can be surfed endlessly. There’s no better way to enjoy a hot Squamish day.” He added that it is also a great way to practice your surfing skills at home before those fall trips away to Tofino, Hawaii, Mexico and other surf destinations.
The company will offer 4 hour scenic boat tours departing from Porteau cove, with a chance to surf, water ski or wakeboard. Tours will start with a scenic cruise to the inlet near Gambier Island where the water is calmer and warmer, offering perfect conditions for playing in the water.
Operations will run from May to October, with no need for wetsuits in the warmer months of June, July and August.
