6 Must Visit Campgrounds Around Squamish

Camping season is right around the corner and you probably want to line up some campgrounds to visit around Squamish. People flock to the area from all over the world, so the most popular areas fill up fast. Be sure to check online for reservation options and try to book your trip as far in advance as possible.  This list of  six  campgrounds around Squamish  will help you start planning your summertime wilderness camping adventures. Please remember to camp in designated camping areas, be fire safe and pack out what you pack in!

1. Alice Lake Provincial Park: Alice Lake Provincial Park is an outdoor enthusiasts mecca. It is fun for the whole family. There are four lakes, fishing, biking trails, hiking, and a family-friendly atmosphere. In addition, the price of the campsites is very thrifty compared to other high-cost locations. Reservations are strongly suggested

• Pull up campsites are $35 per party per night. Seniors pay only $17.50 per night.
• Walk-in campsites are $23 per night. Seniors pay only $11.50 per night.

2. Cat Lake Campground: This lovely campground does not take reservations. It is far less busy than Alice Lake and a great place to swim. All of the campsites are walk-in only. The road to get to the trailhead is very bumpy. However, one of the perks about this classic campground is that it is only 20 minutes from downtown Squamish.

• Campsites are $15 per night from May 1 to October 31

3. Kalahine Campground: The Kalahine campground has been a landmark camping location for over 50 years. Enjoy hiking, climbing, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, scuba diving, kiteboarding and golfing. There are 150 campsites but reservations are suggested.

• Tent sites are $35 per night
• Auto pull in sites $40 per night with no power

4. Mamquam River Campground: If you want to camp at a rustic campground that is located close to town near a lovely river then this place is fantastic and affordable. There is no running water at this site and there is no RV service.

• Campsites are $15 per night. In addition, no bonfires are allowed.

5. Mountain Fun Base Camp: At MTN Fun Base Camp you can pitch a tent or stay in an RV. There are even cabins for rent. At the campground, you’ll be in the heart of mountain biking adventure with a bevy of trails for every skill set. This is a great place for the whole family. You’ll want to make reservations to ensure that you get a campsite.

• Tent campsites run from $40 to $43 per night.
• RV sites average $55 to $65 per night and are fully serviced.

6. Stawamus Chief Provincial Park: At the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park you’ll find 62 campsites. Fifteen of the sites are accessible by your vehicle but the remaining are walk-in. This campground is very popular with climbers. There is a camp sink, food storage lockers, and a prep state. Imagine, you will be camped at the base of what is considered the world’s largest monolith made of granite.

• Campsites are $10 per night per person. Children age six and under are free.
