February Fly Fishing Update from our Guides:

The whole winter season right into the spring months are the best times to fish our coastal rivers in the Squamish and Whistler areas. The trout are active and the next few weeks should be excellent for walk and wade tours along the local Squamish rivers. We are targeting rainbow trout, bull trout and cutthroat trout.

Be sure to enjoy excellent eagle watching in the valley for the anglers who fish Squamish until the end of February.

We are now targeting the Winter steelhead in the Squamish river. For clients who want the best chance at catching a wild BC steelhead full day or multi day trips are recommended.

The Squamish River system currently has amazing rainbow trout, bull trout, Dolly Varden, and steelhead to follow through the winter and spring months.

Please note that all steelhead, trout and char have to be released with care.

Winter weather has arrived, which signals the beginning of an excellent Winter fishing season. Did you know Chum are the second largest salmon species? That means fantastic fights and huge rewards.

The Sea to Sky area enjoys an excellent winter and spring fishery between November and May. With plenty of species to fish for, each month brings a different adventure. October brings the chum and Coho salmon to local waters, although the late season coho salmon fishing is now done for the year.

We do live in a rainforest, so don’t forget to bring your rain gear! Some of the best fishing in the area happens in the rain, and if you come prepared with the right gear, you can enjoy a very comfortable day on the water. There are a wide variety of streams, rivers, and lakes to fish in the area, so there are always options if the rivers start raging. As summer turns into fall, the chum, Coho, and trout fishing picks up and fishes steady through some of our wettest months. So don’t shy away from the rain, as you never know what you might hook into!
