Surfing in September on the Howe Sound

Sunday September 8th was a beautiful day – the kind of day when it feels like summer will never end in Squamish BC.

Our town was filled with visitors from around the world enjoying top notch mountain biking, rock climbing, fly fishing, kiteboarding, and hiking to name a few of the endless recreation options.

Keen to try something new, we decided to grab our wet suits and join Kaotic Tours on the Howe Sound to try some surfing and sightseeing.

We launched the boat at Porteau Cove and  went exploring around the Howe Sound.  After circling an island full of Sea Lions, we found a calm cove to try our hand at surfing on the endless wave – or boarding in the wake of the boat.

It was my first time, but after a few attempts and falls I started to get that incredible surfing feeling.

This is a great way to practice your surfing before heading off on that surf trip this fall. Book today through Garibaldi Tours if you would like to try this awesome sport or just enjoy a boat cruise around the picturesque Howe Sound.
