TROUT FISHING 

Is available all year long as their is a multitude of rivers, lakes and streams varying in elevation in the Sea To Sky region. These conditions are ideal for pursuing these exciting fish. Depending on location and time of year you can fish for Wild Rainbows, Dolly Varden/Char and Coastal Cutthroat Trout. Their are three main techniques depending on availability of food sources, including dry fly, nymphing and streamer fishing. 

SALMON FISHING

Is available from mid to late July through November, depending on what species you are targeting. These fish can be caught in the rivers or on the beach in the salt water. Pink Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Chum Salmon make up the majority of our trips. Most of Salmon are caught using a swung wet fly or a stripped fly.

STEELHEAD FISHING

In British Columbia, Steelhead fishing is considered one of the pinnacles of fly fishing worldwide.  Depending on water conditions, opportunities begin locally for winter run Steelhead in February and end in the early spring, around late April, early May. Although winter run Steelheading is not considered a quantity game, it can be measured in the quality of the fish. Wild and fresh from the ocean these fish command respect. To catch steelhead you can use wet flies with single and double handed rods, using a variety of sink tip lengths and weights. We are blessed with a healthy Trout population in our local waters, so a day on the river is very rarely “bite less”.

THE SQUAMISH RIVER

The Squamish river flows over 80 km from the Upper Elaho, between coastal mountain peaks, then drains into the Pacific Ocean at the Howe Sound. It has four tributaries, The Elaho, The Ashlu, the Mamquam and Cheakamus River, which offer year round fishing for Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout, Steelhead, and Salmon.

Squamish also has many small coastal lakes that hold natural and stocked rainbow and cutthroat trout. Float tubes, pontoon boats, or small car-topper boats are the best way to fish these lakes, as there are no boat launches. Here are a few of the local lakes that you might fish on your own:

Is fly fishing offered year-round?

Yes – The Squamish and Sea to Sky region offers excellent fishing year round for different species, depending on the season and location you may have the option to catch Salmon, steelhead, char or trout

What should I bring/wear?

Our guides will supply all of the gear you need for fly fishing, spin fishing, along with all the related tackle and waders, boots, and float tubes if lake fishing. We recommend dressing for the weather and being prepared with layers, as weather on the west coast can change rapidly

Do you offer other methods than fly fishing ?

Yes. On all of our tours we will bring the equipment to offer spin fishing and drift fishing for those who would prefer not to fly fish.

Does your tour include lunch?

How much notice do you need to book a fishing guide?

Although we do our best to accommodate last minute requests, the earlier you book the better. The further ahead you book, the more likely you are to get the date and time that best suites you.  A good guide is at least 1-2 weeks prior booking. We require a minimum of 12 – 24 hrs to process your booking.

Do we get to keep the fish?

No, we practice sustainable fishing habits and hire guides that are a strictly catch and release
