Mamquam River

The Mamquam river is located only 5 minutes from downtown Squamish and offers fun river kayaking opportunities. Mamquam has a fun wave and a slalom course attended by world class racers every year. This is a great river for beginners to experienced kayakers to come play on the water. You can learn to river kayak here or improve your skills through our Kayak Guides.

Elaho River

The Elaho River offers grade 3-4 rapids for most of the year. A popular white water rafting spot, it’s also a great place to try some adrenaline-pumping whitewater kayaking. Kayaking on the Elaho river is available year round. The river changes dramatically depending on the water level, but can be run from the lowest levels of 20cm-40cm to over 200cm for the most advanced paddlers.

The Elaho is known as a big river with many faces, scouting as you go is possible but one of the Biggest Rapids is a must-run.

Ashlu Creek- Box Canyon

The Ashlu is the signature run of southwest BC. It is a Class V with clean bedrock in a deep box canyon. The river is known for its amazing scenery and classic white-water. The run is 2 – 3 hours long and is recommended for experienced kayakers only. The river has been dammed by a hydro project, but there are recreational releases in May, August and September.

Ocean Kayaking in Squamish

Take advantage of our access to the Howe Sound. Surrounded by towering, snow-capped mountain peaks that climb directly out of the sea, you can start the day with a gentle guided kayak paddle. See wildlife, seals, eagles, deer and maybe even the pod of dolphins that visit the Sound, panoramic views of the famous Chief, Diamond Head peak, Shannon Falls, Garibaldi Glaciers and Black Tusk can be seen.

Tour FAQ’s

Do I need any experience?

No experience is required. Our guides enjoy teaching first timers.

Do I need to be in great shape?

No, it is good if you are of moderate fitness. Our tours are on flat water and go at a slow pace. We take frequent breaks to tell stories and talk about the ecology.

What if it rains?

Our trips still go ahead rain or shine. The mountains are a beautiful place to be rain or shine and wet stormy weather can add a very unique aspect to the whole experience that few people get to experience. Please wear layers and dress for wet weather if it is in the forecast

What do I need to bring on a tour?

Bring lots of water, sunscreen, sunglasses with strap, insect repellent and a waterproof camera

What should I wear on a tour?

Dress for the weather. In the summer that means shorts and a t-shirt. We do not reccomend cotton as synthetic nylon clothing will dry quicker. If it looks like rain you can bring a rain coat. If it is a cool, off-season day you should wear layers, fleece jackets are great. It is not a bad idea to bring a towel along with a change of clothes for after the tour, especially if you are looking to go to dinner after a sunset tour.

How old do you have to be to go in a single kayak?

We recommend that a kayaker should be 13 years or older to go in their own kayak. That being said, we have done as young as 8 because that child had prior kayak experience. Children under 13 in their own kayak do pay the adult fare.
