Sustainability Summit 2020

March 12 @ 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

The Quest University Canada Student Environmental Committee invites you to participate in the third annual Sustainability Summit. On Thursday March 12th, please join us for an evening to learn about the Fraser Basin Council Youth Program’s “Co-Creating a Sustainable BC” initiative, as well as to discuss local and global youth environmental movements and how to engage with them.

This event takes place on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). The Sustainability Summit will be an opportunity for local youth, organizations, and community leaders, from a variety of interests and perspectives, to come together for meaningful dialogue about the role of youth in environmental movements.

Where: Quest University Canada 3rd floor library building
(3200 University Boulevard, parking available in the underground parkade on the upper part of campus. Parking in the upper roundabout is limited and reserved for those with mobility limitations.)

When: Thursday, March 12th

Tickets:
Free, or by donation, where all proceeds will go to the Quest University Student Association who supported this event. We ask that you please RSVP by getting a ticket in advance at this website: https://qusa.ticketleap.com/sustainabilitysummit2020

Plan for the evening:
7:15pm Doors open
7:30pm Opening and blessings
7:40pm Opening talk from the Fraser Basin Council Youth
Program about their “Co-Creating a Sustainable BC”
initiative
8:00pm Table discussions about the Fraser Basin Council Youth
Program project, providing a space for the community to
develop ideas and feedback to support their initiative
8:35pm Table discussions about global and local youth
movements and how to engage with/support them
9:00pm Chance to continue conversations, with tables given to
organizations if they wish to tell the community about their
organization and programs
9:30pm End of the event

Students from Quest University Canada will be taking notes during the round table discussions, which will be compiled into a summary report to be sent out to participants after the event. Our hope is that this summary document will serve as a way to continue conversation, at Quest University and in the Sea to Sky Corridor, around sustainability and youth activism. The findings will also be used by the Fraser Basin Council Youth Program to inform their current environmental initiative.

If you would like to share promotional material for the organization you represent, please respond to this email as we can organize a table for you. We hope that you can use this opportunity to grow your network of potential volunteers and supporters.

We ask that you help us in making this event a success by taking a moment to forward this invitation to any organizations, friends, or family who might be interested in joining the Sustainability Summit.
