About the Squamish Heirloom Cider:
Hand-crafted at Northyards Cider Co., the Squamish Heirloom Cider is an embodiment of the awesome community we live in!
With the help of SOLscapes and friends in the Sea to Sky excess apples growing in the area were brought in to be made into cider! SOLscapes helps facilitate a fruit rescue program in Squamish to collect excess fruit in order to reduce food waste and wildlife attractants. As you may know, bears remember the location of a food source, and this obviously causes issues for their (and our) safety! It’s a great program that ensures the community can enjoy the fruits it has grown and save the lives of our local bears.
Northyards Cider Co. is generously donating $1 from every pint of the Squamish Heirloom Cider sold to the Squamish CAN.
About Michalina Hunter:
Michalina joined the Squamish CAN board of directors in 2015, and quickly became involved in the executive and other initiatives. Ever since has been a powerful force of action. Her contributions include: helping with adoption of the Squamish Food Charter, co-founding the Squamish Food Policy Council, managing the Garibaldi Community Garden and Mamquam Elementary School Garden (MESY), and initiating the Squamish Seed Library and annual Seedy Sunday event.
All this while working as a beekeeper and educator with Green Bee Honey, a sustainable beekeeping business her and her partner started in 2015 and continue to run.
Thank you Northyards Cider Co., and thank you Michalina Hunter for your contributions to the Squamish CAN!
