Monthly Estuary Bird Count
May 9 @ 7:00 am - 12:30 pmFree
No experience necessary. All levels of birders welcome!
Following Covid protocols, we will meet at the O’Siyam Pavilion, one block north of the Howe Sound Brew Pub. There, we will break up into four groups to cover different areas of the estuary. Be prepared to drive your own car, and wear a mask, if you wish. The count will take about four to five hours.
The Squamish estuary provides nesting sites, feeding and resting areas for migrants, and year round homes for over 235 bird species. Habitats include: floodplain forest, rivers, sloughs, Carex sedge meadows, tidal mudflats and open water.
